Research Project: Lab Apparatus Design and Machine Learning applied in Structural Health Monitoring

At Fulbright University Vietnam, I've been working on a research project since April 2022, and mainly worked on the electrics and programming in this project, where I am responsible for the hardware and software communications among sensors, actuators, and Raspberry Pi 4 computer.

We focused on making new laboratory device for studying how structures bend. In the first six months, we tried out different setups to create a system for four-point beam bending experiments. Our setup has a mechanical part with a loading frame, a beam model with support and load points, and an electronic system with sensors for data.

We wanted to make it easy to use, so we added an automated loading mechanism, a simple electrical box, and a better circuit for measuring strain. We also made sure it can communicate well with sensors and instruments and has a user-friendly interface. The final phase involving in analyzing and predicting structural behavior of materials by applying Machine Learning.
